I’ve heard of some states that will pay back your if you teach for 2 years in return, or something along those lines. Anyone heard of this in Texas?

for ways of becoming a teacher contact the texas state dept. of ed. they should have a section on licensing requirements.
as far as having your loans forgiven it’s a little more complicated than just teaching for two years. you have to teach in a title I school for X years. title I schools are (usually) very low income schools that receive federal funds because they are failing, have high dropout rates, and can’t get decent teachers to stick around. i think the programs vary by state but in nevada you had to teach a high need subject (science, math, special ed, bilingual) in the title I school for 5 years and then you only got a certain amount of the loan forgiven.
the worthiness of the program depends upon the size of your student loans. your interest may capitalize to a point that the amount that’s forgiven is far less than what you owe. in my case it wasn’t worth it.
again, i’d contact the texas state doe to see what they offer because i’m pretty sure the program varies state to state.
