nope, you can actually fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at fafsa.ed.gov by June 30th, you have 5 days! gogogogogo! lol. This will cover Pell Grants, Student loans, work study, etc. all in one.

Actually the FAFSA form is good until June of next year (2009) for the 2008-2009 academic school year. Yes, you have time, but you should work with your school to make sure that everything will go through on time so that you are not charged any late fees.
The federal government is still taking applications, but your school may have had a deadline that may delay your loan. But it is not to late to apply. Check how long it will take for the loan to be processed and make sure you fill out a promisory letter and enterance loan counseling if you have not done so previously. This will make everything go quicker.
Talk with your school to make sure everything will be processed in time to avoid late fees! good luck.
PS I work in a financial aid office at a university.
