Ok so I have great intentions of attending a university in the fall and I have already been admitted! But I am still working on a way to pay for it. I will probably qualify for financial aid.. but I am wondering if getting a government student loan depends on credit? Does it?

no. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. You, the student, if you are young probably don’t even have any credit established yet. They know this. Most loans are not required to be paid back until you graduate or quit. I am in the same boat with my son right now, trying to find him a way to go to the university he has picked out without him having a huge loan when he graduates. Try to find other ways to pay and make the loan for as little as you can.good luck

There are two sources for student loans — the federal government and private lenders. In order to obtain most federal student loans, you will first need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In mostyou can combine all of your eligible federal student loans into one loan with a Federal Consolidation Loan. Consolidating also locks the interest rate you pay on your loan.
