If you are looking to consolidate then you need to start look NOW. AS of April 1, 2008, Many of the companies that used to consolidate are no longer doing it. My wife had a number of student loans that were going back into repayment soon and would have had a monthly bill of over $700 for her loans had she not consolidated. The longer you wait, the more businesses that may no longer combine those loans so LOOK NOW. One that I think stillis available is consolidation through the Student Loan People or the Federal Department of Education.
Hope this helps

Many branches of the government have loan forgiveness programs. You would have to work for them for about 4-5 years. In return they will pay or forgive a certain amount of your loan. If you were looking to go into the public sector any way it’s a good opportunity to get out from under some debt.
