Avoid anyone with a yahoo address that wants to give you a loan. A reputable lender is someone like Wachovia, Chase, Bank of America.
Why do you want a private loan? A credit card might have a lower interest rate -

You need more a car loan than a student loan !
Try local bank/credit union.
If you go with a student loan, put regular transportation fees.
